The materials pictured on this page are examples of the termed “buckskin” materials as read on our home page and the Douglas Fir Beam page. All materials pictured, Douglas fir and Western Red Cedar are old blow-down trees, and long abandoned or lost logs that are retrieved through sustainable forest management practices. If you look closely at the Western Red Cedar pictures, you will see charred areas. These salvaged pieces had once been through an old historic forest fire.
