It is hard to think of a more environmentally friendly, ecologically sound idea than recycling of vast amounts of timber from out-of-date buildings, especially when recycling is compared to traditional "crash and dash" demolition.
In 1997 Re-Tech was awarded the bid to take down the old Simpson Door Company located in McCleary, WA. built in 1912. Working with the co-operation of the Simpson Timber Co., allowed time needed to disassemble their old building. Recovering over 700,000 board feet of old growth Doug Fir and Hemlock. It is hard to visualize the process of disassembling a huge warehouse, so we have provided a sequence of photos showing how we go about it. It is also very hard to imagine the beautiful structures that can result from the materials hidden within a magnificent old building such as the Simpson Door Company. Re-Tech exists to make this transition possible. By clicking on to the "Grand House" and Sanford Winery, you will see how this "battered old building" become the beautiful structures shown in these two pages. |
